The Centenary Project
Significant progress has been made on the Balcony Extension over the last year. We shall shortly be seeking tenders for the building work with the aim of having the project completed before the end of 2013 so that the official opening can take place on the first Sunday of the Centenary year 2014 to coincide with the raising of the Centenary Flag.
The fund raising efforts have now exceeded the budget target of £35,000, however, events and competitions will continue to assist with the cost of running the Centenary.
Members are reminded that the Club Lottery is still available, it costs just £2 per month with 50% of the proceeds allocated to prizes. If you wish, you can pay one lump sum of £30 which will cover entries to the end of the scheme in March 2014, please see Karen in the Secretary’s office.
Once again various events and competitions are to take place through 2013, watch the notice board and check the new diary for dates of Texas Scrambles, 9 Hole Mixed Stableford and other special events. Now running is the draw for the Centenary Car Park space and tickets are available at the Bar.
There is less than 12 months to go now until the Club reaches its Centenary. Events and golf throughout the year are in planning but especially in the two weeks commencing 20th July. Centenary Day, August 1st , will be filled with celebrations and entertainment; the main events will finish with a Gala Dinner and Dance at the Majestic Hotel on Saturday August 2nd.
Details of all these will be published in good time but members are asked to put a note in their diaries now to ensure that they do not miss out.
