Yorkshire Union Seniors Amateur Championships - Selby GC
Congratulations to John Wade who recorded the best score (nett 69) in the over 70 section on the 2nd day of the Yorkshire Union Seniors Championships at Selby this week, resulting in a handicap reduction to 8. John also won the Harrogate & District Society of Golf Captains Spring meeting at Knaresborough recently - clearly a man in form!

HDUGC 3rd Division Championships
Congratulations to our 2 teams in the HDUGC Third Division Championships held at Oakdale on Sunday. First were our B team, Jason Hoare, Mike Hudson, Chris Dawson and Mike Franklin, and third were our A team, Mike Barker, Steve Russell, Graham Scott and Ken Richardson.
Yorkshire Ladies Veterans Championships 2013
The Yorkshire Veterans Ladies Golf Association Championships were held at Meltham Golf Club this week & Joyce Slater secured the last qualifying spot in the knockout stages of the event. Sadly, she lost on the last green to top qualifier Carol Simpson in the first round but congratulations to Joyce for her excellent performance.
The Oakdale trio of Jane Henderson, Patsy Rochester and Karen Leake won the consolation stableford event, having missed out on the previous day.
Congratulations to Bar Manager Claris Davison and Richard Lumb who announced their engagement this week. We wish them all the best!
Congratulations to Oilvia Jackson who has followed up her excellent scoring at Strathmore by winning the Under 16 Faldo series at West Lancs GC. She goes forward to the finals which will be held in September in the Far East.
Junior Success - Olivia Jackson
Olivia Jackson recorded a very respectable 25th (out of 105) place at the recent 2013 Scottish Under 16 girls Championships at Strathmore GC in Alyth. Her second round score of 72, 4 under her handicap was rewarded with a handicap reduction to 3. Olivia then captained the Yorkshire Girls in their match against the Harrogate & District Union Boys team, which resulted in a draw.
Knaresborough Trophy Winners
Congratulaions to our 6 man team who won the Knaresborough Trophy held at the Otley Alliance on Wednesday. Their combined stableford score of an excellent 145 points saw them home. Well done Kevin Askew ,Brian Askew, Neil Robson, Ian Sommerville , Geoff Thompson and Neil Samuel.

HDUGC 3rd Team Champs -12th May 2013 at Oakdale
Calling all Male Members who have a handicap in the range 21 to 28 inclusive.
Would you like to represent your Club in the above Event? This is a Medal Event, played in teams of 4, and we are invited to enter 2 teams.The Event is played on a measured course off White Tees. Although it counts to your handicap, the team scores are determined on a gross basis with all to count. Last year, an Oakdale Team finished in second place, narrowly losing to the eventual winners. HDUGC Junior Jamboree Winners
Congratulations to Olivia Jackson & Jake Twineham who combined to win the Harrogate Union Junior Jamboree at Harrpgate Golf Club. They won with 44 points which was a convincing 5 points better than the nearest opposition.
Bainbridge Shield Champions 2012
Congratulations to the Oakdale mens 2nd team who are the 2012 Bainbridge Shield champions. Thanks to everyone who played in the team this year and ensured a convincing victory by over 20 points.
HDUGC Ladies Seniors Championships
Oakdale Ladies Section continued their successful record in Union events this year. Patsy Rochester won the Seniors Championship with 37 points, keeping the trophy at Oakdale following Jean Ogden's success last year. Oakdale also enjoyed success in the age group sections with Lynn Wood, Olivia Lambert, Jean Ogden and Gaye Richardson winning their respective categories - discretion prevents mention of the actual age groups!
HDUGC Juniors - Most Improved Player of the Year (John Parry Trophy)
Many congratulations to Jake Twineham who has won the HDUGC John Parry Trophy for most improved golfer. In an extremely close competition, Olivia Jackson came second by only 0.3%! Jake has reduced his handicap from 14 to 8 this season and Olivia has reduced hers from 7 to 4. Well done to both players!
Moore Trophy - successful defence!
Oakdale Rabbits Section retained the Moore Tophy, competed for annually along with teams from Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough, on home soil last Monday. Using the best 8 of 12 scores in each team, Oakdale won handsomely with a score of 574, followed by Knaresborough 608, Harrogate 609 and Ripon 616. Well done to all those who took part.
North Of England U16 Strokeplay Championships
Warmest congratulations to Olivia Jackson who finished in 5th place at the North of England Championships at Pannal, with rounds of 72,73,79,74. Her first 2 rounds won her the prize for the best first 36 holes. Many thanks to all members who sent notes of encouragement and to those who came to support.
Garforth Team Trophy
Oakdale Ladies have enjoyed further success at the Garforth Team Trophy with the team of Olivia Lambert, Patsy Rochester, Anne Jones and Jane Henderson winning the best net team trophy. Jane Henderson also won the individual best net prize with her excellent score of 68.
HDUGC Presidents Day for Ladies
Continuing Oakdale's success in the Harrogate Union events, Jayne Nicholson & Allison Wormald won the Presidents Day at Ilkley GC on Thursday with 40 points. It is particularly pleasing as both players were members of the original Taster programme at Oakdale, so proving the value of the initiative. Jane Henderson and Lynn Wood (also a Taster member) came second only 1 point behind. Jane & Lynn also took longest drive & nearest the pin respectively. A good day all round for Oakdale!
HDUGC Scratch Matchplay Championships
Joyce Slater won her semi-final in the Harrogate Union Scratch Matchplay Championships at Ilkley against Lauren Collinson (Romanby), but, despite a valiant fight, lost the final to Lily Downs, also from Romanby 4&3.
