Rabbits Welcome

We are a flourishing and successful section supporting the aims of Rabbits Golf played on some excellent and attractive courses. As you will see from our fixture list, we have the prospect of a very good year of Rabbits golf. Our first fixtures include competitive, yet friendly matches against other Clubs in the Harrogate/ Leeds area, followed by a pleasant meal and drink.

There is a full range of internal competitions that take place throughout the year. Details are shown below.

To new members, a very warm welcome. A sheet is placed on the Rabbits notice board advertsing a match and asking members if they are available and would like to be considered. You will only be considered for away matches if you have said you are available for home matches. You will be given every encouragement to represent our section in inter-club fixtures (please keep signing up throughout the season).

Rabbits Golf

The Rabbits section nurtures the playing of golf for the 16 - 28 handicap golfer in order to achieve self-fulfillment from their chosen sport.

To promote the excellent facilities that Oakdale Golf Club has to offer, by encouraging members to participate in the competitive and social life of the Club. To foster friendly competition between players of similar ability and to encourage friendly association with neighbouring clubs.

Rabbits Golf in Yorkshire

Rabbits golf has been played in Yorkshire for over 60 years. Over 100 clubs in the area are currently affiliated to the Yorkshire Rabbits Golf Association. Oakdale Rabbits section was founded in 1947.

Membership is open to gentlemen with a Club handicap of 16 or over.

Teams from Oakdale Rabbits are entered in the Fowler Trophy, Thornton Trophy and a winter & summer league.

During June we take part in the Moore Trophy, an annual competition against Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon.

Greensomes (half combined difference) - pairs are drawn from entries - summer. If you are not going to be available for lengthy periods during the summer then please consider whether it is wise to enter as 4 golfers finding agreed dates for the matches is often difficult.
